I never got my fill of this most beautiful of the American deserts, located on the US/Mexican border. Spring vegetation is lush and the desert floor becomes carpeted with wildflowers and flowering bushes. When I first hiked here, we would see only occasional litter or the tell-tale high-heel foot prints of migrant workers. But now-a-days heavy foot traffic from various activities has covered the area with discarded belongings and made the area too dangerous for backpackers.
